The pictures record the people and places, but don't expect National Geographic. They're snapshots taken with a cheap pocket camera. Anything looking the least bit expensive would have been inadvisable to take to the places you'll read about, at least by a young man happy to sleep under bridges. The pictures were stashed in a family album, yellowing over the years, and restored as well as possible.
